Run CCleaner

One-click cleaner. Removes all the temp files and junk that builds up in the background. Download and install CCleaner. Run it with its default settings and DON’T check any boxes that aren’t already checked, it can erase things you don’t want erased. After installing, just click the “Run Cleaner” button… CCleaner does the rest.

Malwarebytes StartUpLITE

Malwarebytes-StartUpLITESpeed is drastically reduced by start-up programs. These are little programs that start when your computer starts without you knowing. To keep your computer running fast you must turn off non-essential startup programs. Malwarebytes StartUpLITE does a good job of doing this for you in one easy step.

First download Malwarebytes StartUpLITE, next open it and click Continue to disable non-essential start-up programs. That’s it, you’re done!

Defragment your computer

Auslogics-disk-defragNever imitated, never duplicated. Defrag is one of the original speed boosters and it still stands strong (though soon it will disappear as SSD’s (USB flash drive technology) become more popular). A defrag is a defrag, don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise though the tools doing the defrag are often different.

Auslogics does a great job at defragmenting a computer quickly. I recommend Auslogic for 2 reasons. First, it can be scheduled to run when your computer is idle. Second, it has an option to move all system files to the beginning of the disk for faster access. To geek for you? Don’t worry, just follow the directions.

  1. Download Auslogics Disk Defrag
  2. Install Auslogics (file is called disk-defrag-setup.exe)
  3. Click the “Defrag & Optimize” option on the menu shown.
  4. Setup a schedule to defragment when your computer is idle.
