Cisco DDR2200 Port Forwarding not working

Port Forwarding problems on the Cisco DDR2200?

The Cisco DDR2200 is provided by CenturyLink. The port forward instructions provided on the CenturyLink website and by their tier 1 technicians is incomplete. I’ve had 2 tier one technicians REPLACE the router only to find the next one didn’t work either. After speaking with an experienced tier 2 technician I found the solution to make port forwarding work and would like to share it with everyone. First the port needs to be opened in 2 places: the “Virtual Servers” section and the “Port Triggering” section. Finally the router needs to be REBOOTED or none of this will work. Here are the steps:

  1. Cisco DDR2200 Port Forwarding not workingLogin to the Cisco DDR2200 using the default username/password which is: admin / 1PTV-ADM1N
  2. Next click Advanced > IP Networking > “NAT” tab

  3. Click the “Virtual Servers” link and Add your port forwards.
  4. When complete click the “NAT” tab again.
  5. Click the “Port Triggering” link and Add your port forwards labeled by application.
  6. Finally, click System > Management > Save/Reboot.

After about a minute the router will come back up and your port forwards will work. You can verify by using a site like CanYouSeeMe.org.
