Windows 8 doesn’t confirm deleting a file
By default Windows 8 has file delete confirmation turned off. If you try to delete a file or folder it just disappears, NO confirmation. While I welcome less intrusion to working on my computer this little change can have serious implications. A simple typo can now remove entire directories with years of work or memories without ever knowing it!
The fix for this is simple.
Follow the below steps to turn on the file deletion confirmation
- Right-click the Recycle Bin on the desktop (Fig 1)
- Left-click Properties (Fig 1)
- CHECK the box that says “Display delete confirmation dialog” (Fig 2)
- Click Apply (Fig 2)
- Click OK (Fig 2)
